Finance Clerk-UNDP
Millennium Villages Project (MVP)

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) seeks to recruit a Finance Clerk to work in the Millennium Villages Project (MVP) situated in Tabora, Tanzania. The incumbent will be based in Tabora, working under the direct supervised of the Finance & Administrative Assistant, and overall supervision of the Team Leader, MVP.  S/he will maintain liaison with the Finance and Procurement units of UNDP Country Office.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process financial documentation (vouchers, supporting documents, internet and telephone invoices, etc.) and maintaining internal expenditures control system by ensuring that vouchers processed are matched and completed, transactions are correctly recorded and posted in Atlas; travel claims, monthly payment orders (MPOs) and other entitlements are duly processed.
  • Provide information for reports on financial status, procedures, exchange rates, costs and expenditures (including MIP) and potential funding problems. Extracting, inputting, copying and filing data from various sources and maintain proper filing system for financial records and documents.

Academic qualifications, experience and skills:
  • Certificate in accountancy/Finance, or any other related academic qualifications. An Ordinary Diploma/Advanced Diploma preferred, but not a strict requirement. At least 3 years of relevant accounting and financial experience at national level is required.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.  Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Ability to perform a variety of repetitive and routine tasks and duties related to Finance, screening, collecting and preparation of documentation, data input, transactions tracking, filing, provision of information. Good knowledge of financial rules and regulations.

Type of Contract: Service Contract Duration: One year initially  Salary level: SB 2 Quartile 1.
